Zoom B6 Bass Multi Effects Unit

Zoom B6 Bass Multi Effects Unit

Zoom B6 Bass Multi Effects Unit

The B6 has had a serious upgrade—its brand new analog circuit, combined with a redesigned DI section, gives your instrument way more depth in the low end. With an 88.2 kHz effects processor (that’s twice the rate of most other units), your high frequencies stay crisp and clear too. Zoom have also gone all-in on modelling, recreating four iconic DI boxes that give you a wide range of tonal options to work with.

Here’s the breakdown:

  • Tube 1 gives you that warm, harmonically rich tube DI sound with thick lows.

  • Tube 2 still has the tube vibe but with a more defined attack and tighter bottom end.

  • Solid State 1 adds a bit of compression and sharpens up your tone—great for electric bass.

  • And if you're using an upright bass with piezo pickups, it helps prevent low-end drop-off too.

One of my favourite features is the dual inputs—they let you quickly switch between two instruments, say electric bass and synth or acoustic bass. Both inputs also let you toggle the impedance between 1M and 10M ohms, which is super handy for getting a cleaner sound from piezo-equipped instruments.

Amp and cab modelling is solid here too. The B6 includes 11 classic amp models (plus a few new ones), and 12 speaker cabinet emulations—each with three mic position options. Add to that a huge collection of Zoom’s well-known effects, plus 10 brand new ones, and you’ve got a seriously flexible setup.

The 4.3" colour touchscreen makes building and rearranging your signal chain incredibly easy—just drag and drop your effects. The B6 also has four Play Modes that change the touchscreen and footswitch layout depending on what you’re doing:

  • Effect Board Mode lets you toggle individual effects on/off.

  • Bank/Patch Mode makes scrolling through your sounds quick and intuitive.

  • Memory Mode is ideal for gigs—you can assign patches to footswitches for easy access.

  • And Looper Mode lets you build up layers with loops up to two hours long, saved straight to an SD card.

There are 68 built-in rhythm patterns covering a wide range of styles and time signatures. You can record directly to your DAW via USB, or connect the B6 to Zoom’s Handy Guitar Lab for B6 app using Bluetooth (via the optional BTA-1 adapter). You can even use your iPhone or iPad as a secondary controller.

For visually impaired players, Zoom has included full accessibility support in the app—VoiceOver and gesture controls are built right in.
